Secure Enclave

The Secure Enclave is an isolated, highly secure coprocessor within modern Apple devices that runs independently of the main CPU to store sensitive data like cryptographic keys.

The Secure Enclave protects local device encryption keys and biometric data, working alongside Apple’s activation servers to prevent unauthorized access even if the main operating system is compromised. This structural isolation means that even if a hacker manages to rewrite the main operating system using a bootrom exploit, the Find My iPhone restriction stays intact, rendering the device entirely useless to thieves.
