The GSMA is a global organization representing mobile operators that manages the centralized worldwide registry of device identifiers and Equipment Identity Registers. It is responsible for issuing Type Allocation Codes (TAC) to authorized manufacturers and maintaining the global blacklist for stolen devices.
The global telecommunications infrastructure relies entirely on the GSMA's centralized database. When a device is reported stolen in one country, the GSMA registry broadcasts the update globally, ensuring participating carriers worldwide block the compromised hardware from accessing their cellular networks.
