Apple Business Manager is an enterprise platform that allows corporations and educational institutions to deploy Mobile Device Management (MDM) profiles to remotely wipe, lock, and control their hardware fleets.
Secondary markets are frequently targeted by scammers who use temporary bypass software to hide active MDM profiles, making stolen enterprise phones look perfectly clean. However, the moment an unsuspecting buyer updates iOS or factory resets the device, it reaches out to Apple Business Manager, downloads the original profile, and permanently locks the user out by demanding a corporate login.
